Explosivity test
The explosiveness test can justify or, where appropriate, refute the explosiveness of a powder feedstock. The result of this study is key. If the tested dust does not show a tendency to explode, designers, contractors, and operators do not have additional explosion protection tasks. But if the tested dust proves to be explosive, it may be necessary to measure other relevant material characteristics of the sample. The test may be carried out using all of the following equipment:
Modified Hartmann Tube
Blast chamber test
Godbert-Greenwald Furnace
The result obtained when using the modified Hartmann tube or the Godbert-Greenwald furnace can only be accepted if the sample showed a tendency to explode. It can only and only be justified by blast chamber testing if a powder is not explosive.
It is good to know that before our blast chamber tests, we perform a particle analysis in accordance with the standard, the cost of which is included in the basic fee of the test. If the tested dust is not explosive, we always consult with our partners about their necessity before starting further tests.
